My Five Lifesavers
Everyday is a new day and can be unpredictable. One day last week I was out of the office for a client meeting. Once I reached the destination I was greeted by a huge event and no parking near my clients venue. Let’s set the scene: tall snowbanks, parking meters, puddles of water and a 1 mile walk to the venue while wearing 6 inch heels! A woman must do what she must do but luckily this woman can rely on a few life savers to get through the day — one being a pair of rolled up ballet flats in case of an emergency. Here are my top five life savers:
iPhone & portable charger. - Whose idea was this? Hello! I am always on the go, sending emails, sitting on conference calls, buying starbucks, taking pictures, listening to music, reading blogs you name it. Batteries can not keep up with the demands of the day for someone who practically lives off their phone. Thanks to two Christmas gifts, I have two portable chargers to assist me throughout the day. I’m unsure on the cost but they are priceless to me and definitely a life saver.
Day designer by Whitney English. - A planner and a notebook are required for me to get through my day, and with this planner I have both. Even though I take advantage of Evernote on my iphone, there’s nothing like taking your pen and checking off your tasks one by one on paper. Alternatives: Kate Spade, Sugar Paper, and Lily Pulitzer.
A Bold Lipstick/Lipgloss. -In case of an emergency, I always keep a bold lipstick handy. If there’s a last minute meeting or event and I'm wearing zero make-up, having a bold lip can turn me from plain jane to completely glam! Some of my personal favorites fall in the red and purple family.
Rolled-up Ballet Flats. -In case of events, long unexpected walks, or just an extra long day, a proven lifesaver has been a pair of rolled up ballet flats. I own 3 black pairs (black matches everything) and one leopard pair.
A Large Bag. - If you’re going to carry all of the other life savers, investing in a large, sturdy, stylish bag to carry all of these belongings will be worth every penny!
